More than 150 people gathered at the old library at Dulwich College on Friday 20 June, 2003, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Helpline

Leading the celebrations was Dulwich Helpline’s patron, the Right Honourable Tessa Jowell MP. She recalled the early days of the Helpline, when its offices were staffed entirely by volunteers, and commended especially those volunteers who have been with the charity since the very beginning. She extended special thanks to Ted Salmon, who had been Chair of the Management Committee of Dulwich Helpline for the whole ten years.

Also joining us was the Mayor of Southwark, Councillor Colomba Blango. He spoke enthusiastically of the importance of volunteering, and how it proves that modern society is not all about selfishness and individualism.

After the speeches, we had a toast, with glasses raised, to the next ten years of the Dulwich Helpline.
